The 2014 Palmer Cup teams were announced
last week ahead of the June 26-28 Ryder
Cup-style competition against Team Europe at
Walton Heath Golf Club in England.
Here is a look at the players selected to
represent the United States:
Wilson recently beat out teammate and World
No. 1 Patrick Rodgers for the Western
Intercollegiate but has been the model of
consistency for more than a year. He has
seven Top 10 finishes in eight starts and took
fourth at the Australian Master of the
Amateurs.
With four victories already this collegiate
season, Schniederjans is a steady force in the
U.S. lineup. His NCAA success during the 2013-
2014 season, of course, comes following some
major success during the 2013 summer
schedule, which included Top 10s at the
Dogwood, Northeast, Southern, Players and
NCAA Championship.
For Alabama, Shelton -- a highly-regarded
incoming freshman -- picked up right where
All-American and former Haskins Award winner
Justin Thomas left off. Shelton already has two
collegiate victories and played well at the
Jones Cup earlier this year, finishing tied for
17th.
Clark doesn't have a collegiate victory this
season but, according to Golfweek, he's the
best player without a 'W'. With eight Top-6
finishes, including three events in which he
finished as the runner-up, Clark can
undoubtedly compete.
One of the mainstays for Cal during its torrid
run of success, Hagy missed out on the
chance to join teammates on last year's
Walker Cup squad. He'll be among the leaders
and players to watch at the Palmer Cup. He
has three wins and a 70.53 stroke average for
the Golden Bears.
Hoey won the Gifford Collegiate and placed
second at The Goodwin and Lamkin Grips San
Diego Classic. He has been a consistent player
at the highest of levels.
With seven Top-10 finishes this year,
DeChambeau is No. 19 in Golfweek's NCAA
player rankings. He won last year's Trans-Miss
and was second at the Sahalee. Earlier this
year, he contended at the Jones Cup.
The first NCAA Division III player to be
selected to the Palmer Cup squad, Maccaglia
has won three times this year and is a two-
time Div. III All-American. In 2012, he was the
division's Player of the Year and won the
National Individual title. He has also logged a
pair of Top 15s at the Dogwood and
Southeastern Amateur last summer.
Mullinax is the top-ranked player in Golfweek's
NCAA ratings and won the Isleworth
Invitational earlier this year. Most recently, he
has a sixth-place finish at the prestigious
Jones Cup.
A coach's pick, Jolly is a Top 25 golfer in the
Golfweek ratings and won the Golfweek
Conference Challenge earlier this year.
