Players in the first New England event of the season were dealt windy but warm conditions and the match play portion of the 2014 Cape Cod Seagulls Four Ball officially got underway

HYANNISPORT, Mass. (April 6, 2014) -- The competitive golf season is now officially two days underway. The brave group of players that make up the field every year in the first event on the calendar in New England were dealt windy but warm conditions and the match play portion of the 2014 Cape Cod Seagulls Four Ball officially got underway. Moving on to next weekend's action in the event's Championship Flight will be the top-seeded team of John Curley and Chris Tufts. After taking the No. 1 seed in match play, the duo knocked off Phil Fratantonio and Michael Lemerise, 5-and-4. They'll take on No. 8 Brian Secia and Herbie Aikens, one of the top amateurs in Massachusetts. They were 2-and-1 winners over Bob Bestford and Gary Smith on Sunday. Dan Hanson and Bill Van Stratum also moved on. The fourth-seeded team knocked off Andrew and Jack Maher in the first-round and will face Michael Walker and Adam Hostetter, the No. 5 squad. Elsewhere in the Championship Fight, the No. 2 seeded team of Trevor Wellen and Chad Crocker advanced to face No. 10 Pat Dalton and Stephen Molis in Saturday's quarterfinals. Finally, Ray Richard and Jon Fasick, the No. 3 seed, beat Ron Knight and Pete Mondani to advance to next weekend's action where they'll take on John Carey and Mark Lamond. The quarterfinals are slated to be played Saturday at the historic Hyannisport Club with the semifinals and championship match scheduled for Sunday.
