Lake Macquarie Am: England's Evans prevails

MARKS POINT, NSW, Australia (Jan. 25, 2014) -- England's Ryan Evans fought off a surging group to win the 2014 Lake Macquarie International Amateur Golf Championship at Belmont Golf Club.
Evans shot rounds of 70-69-74 over the first three rounds but rallied for a 68 in the finale Sunday, which put him at 7-under for the event and gave him a two-shot victory.
Evans, who won last year's Biarritz Cup and Berkshire Trophy titles, recently tied for ninth at the Master of the Amateurs. His continued form puts him at No. 3 in the Golfweek/amateurgolf.com World Player Rnakings.
New Zealand's Luke Toomey and Jarryd Felton of Wales tied for second place at 5-under. Jordan Zunic of New South Wales was fourth at 4-under.
