Roundup: Whitney adds to resume

The 2013 season just keeps getting better for
Cy Whitney.
The year started with a trio of wins in the
southeast and west
coast. Now, he showed
that he can win in the northeast following a
dominant victory
at the
Senior Porter Cup at Niagara Falls
Country Club.
After an opening-round 73, Whitney fired a 69
in Round 2. He
entered the final round with
atwo shot lead over Robert Parmar and closed
with a sound 71
to win by an impressive
seven shots.
Larry Nunez joined Paul Schlachter and
Parmar
in a tie for
second place. Nunez shot 71 in
the final round to creep into the runner-up
position.
Bill Zylstra tied for fifth along with Frank
Broderick and Larry
Cooper. They were 10 back of
the low mark set by Whitney.
KODY KING WINS AUSTIN'S
BLUEBONNET
CUP
Kody King continued his strong play by
shooting rounds of 67-
72-71--210 to win by two
shots at the 2013 Bluebonnet Cup at
Bluebonnet Hill Golf
Course.
Held by Austin Amateur Golf, the Bluebonnet
Cup is a 54-hole
individual stroke play
tournament that draws a good field from
Central Texas
annually.
King's 67 in Round 1 gave him a share of the
lead with Steve
Paterson. His weekend
rounds kept him ahead of a surging group of
contenders.
Mike Allen took second place, firing a final-
round 68 to upend
Eric Garza (3rd, 213) and
Jerry Thorn (4th, 214).
Paterson and Chris Shive tied for fifth place,
five back of King.

MCCORMACK WINS
BERGEN (NJ) COUNTY
AMATEUR
Ryan McCormick fired rounds of 67-72--139 to
win by four
shots at the 16th annual
Bergen County Amateur at Rockleigh Golf
Course.
McCormick shared the lead with Dylan
Newman
after Round 1
but held on throughout the
final round.

MID-
AM: BAXTER
RALLIES FOR WIN
Alan Baxter shot a final-round 69 to climb to
the top of the
leaderboard at the sixth annual
Greater San Antonio Mid Amateur.
At Olympia Hills, Baxter took the title by one
shot over first-
round leader Joe Stephenson.
Stephenson shot 72 on Sunday to take the
runner-up spot.
