Tim Hogarth and Kyle Pollema share the lead at eight-under with one round to go at the SCGA Public Links Championship

PASADENA, Calif. (Aug. 24, 2013) — Defending champion Dan Sullivan, who shared a portion of the Round 1 lead, struggled on his home course Saturday, posting a 1-over par 71 on Course No. 2 at Brookside GC to fall into T4 at the 2013 SCGA Public Links Championship. At the conclusion of Round 2, the top 30 men survived the 36-hole cut, with SCGA Tournament veteran Tim Hogarth (pictured) and Lakewood, Calif. resident Kyle Pollema leading the way heading into Sunday's final round. Hogarth, who won this event in 2011, held the other share of the Round 1 lead after Friday and carded a second round score of 2-under par 68 to remain at the top. His second round included four birdies and two bogeys, and the former Brookside GC member now has a two-day total of 6 - under par. Pollema was one of four competitors to shoot a 3-under par 67 Saturday, and coupled with his 3-under par 68 on Brookside's Course No. 1 Friday, sits in a tie for first place heading into Sunday's finale. Pollema recently completed his sophomore season on the men's golf team at Orange Coast College. The participants will jump back over to Course No. 1 Sunday, with tee times beginning at 7 a.m. and running through 8:21 a.m. Jeff Coburn of Rancho Santa Margarita sits two strokes off the lead while Sullivan and Shou sit in fourth place three strokes off the lead. The net flight of the championship began Saturday, and will also conclude Sunday. Rick Strattan of Rancho Vista GC leads the Bobby Jones flight while Danny Kim of SCGA eClub leads the Jack Nicklaus flight. There are more than 30 participants competing in each net flight.
