LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Aug. 11, 2013) -- Tim Hogarth is the champion of the 2013 Los Angeles City Championship.

Hogarth, a long time fixture in SCGA and USGA events (winner of the 1996 U.S. Public Links and finalist at 2011 U.S. Mid-Amateur), defeated Clayton Yamaguchi, 5-and-4, in Sunday's final match held at Rancho Park.

Hogarth defeated Michael Brockington in Saturday's quarterfinals to advance. Brockington had held the bracket's No. 2 seed before falling.

En route to the final match, Hogarth also won matches over Dylan Neal and Neil Hand.

Yamaguchi bested Greg Garcia Saturday to contiuse his run.

The Los Angeles City Match Play is a California Points Rankings event held over two weekends at four Los Angeles courses, including Wilson Golf Course, Harding Golf Course and Encino Golf Course.

ABOUT THE Los Angeles City Match Play

18 Hole stroke play qualifying round from which the low 64 players advance to match play. Players USGA index must not have exceeded 4.2 during the months of May, June, July.
