McGreevey wins Kansas Stroke Play
NEWTON, KS. (June 30, 2013) — 18-year old Max McGreevy of Edmond, Oklahoma won the 2013 Railer, Kansas Stroke Play Championship.
McGreevy, an incoming freshman for the Oklahoma Sooners golf team, finished the championship at 2-under par 214 total. SMU golfer Harry Higgs finished in the runnerup spot three shots back at 1-over par 217 total. Five players finished in a tie for third at 4-over par 220 total.
In the Senior Division, KGA veteran Steve Newman of Wichita repeated as The Railer champion in the Senior Division. Newman finished the 54-hole championship at 3-under par 213 to claim his fourth KGA title in the last two years. Andover's Randy Vautravers finished in second at 1-over par 217 total. Kansas City's Don Kuehn claimed third place at 5-over par 221.
Started in 2011 and held annually at Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton, the 2013 Railer will be held June 28-30, 2013. The 54-hole stroke play championship is open to any amateur golfer.
