Year in and year out, Crown Colony is one of the
highest-rated courses in the state of Texas. The club
hosted the Southern Amateur in 1987 and 2001, and
the Texas State Amateur in 1982 and 1998.
Designed in 1979 by Robert von Hagge & Bruce
Devlin, the course is cut out of the East Texas piney
woods. Narrow fairways and plenty of water define
the challenge, and the course has a strong set of par
3's, including the all-carry 4th and 17th. The 17th,
sandwiched between the reachable par-5 16th and
the long 18th, each with a very narrow green, makes
for an exciting finish. The course has five par 3's and
five par 5's to make up its par of 72.
