Merit Amateur: Atkinson/Johnson roll to title
LIBERTYVILLE, Ind. (Sept. 4, 2012) -- Brian Atkinson and Blake Johnson joined up to take the top spot in the 2012 Merit Amateur Championship's Mid-Am Division at the Merit Club.
The duo won the 54-hole stableford-scoring event with a score of plus-25, which was five shots better than runners-up Richard Balla, Jr. and Grant Goltz.
In the Senior Division, Dirk Anderson and Bill Boockford won at plus-2. The winners out-paced the teams of Gus Kozina and Mark Palmer and Russ Aldrich and Peter Marks, which tied for second place.
An interesting perk for the winners of the mid-am and senior divisions is full playing rights for the year at Merit Club.
