Leaderboard jammed at Southeastern Am
COLUMBUS, Georgia (June 13, 2012) -- A group of five players sit atop the leaderboard after the first round of play at the 83rd Southeastern Amateur Championp at the Country Club of Columbus.
Brian Carter (Evans, Ga.), Keith Mitchell (Chattanooga, Tenn.), Justin Grice (South Africa), Jade Scott (Daingerfield, Tx.) and Chad Wilson (Calhoun, Ga.) all fired first-round 2-under 69s in a hotly-contested first round.Another larget group sits just one shot back at 1-under 70. Chris Meyer (Madison, Wis.), Franco Castro (Alpharetta, Ga.), Joe Lewis (Savannah, Ga.), Zach Lindsay (Kennesaw, Ga.) , Drew Czuchry (Auburn, Ga.) and Thomas O'Bryan (Aurora, Ill.) are all one shot off the lead.
All told, 27 players are within three shots of the lead, making for some intriguing golf left to be played.
