PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. (June 20, 2010) -- Russell Henley of Macon Georgia and Scott Langley of St. Louis, Missouri shared low amateur honors at the 2010 U.S. Open, tying for 16th at 8-over. Henley, the SEC Conference Player-of-the-Year and Langley, the NCAA Individual Champion, not only played well enough to make the cut, they continued their solid golf over the weekend and hit a number of memorable, and crowd pleasing shots in the process - many of those broadcast live around the world.

Watching them play Thursday and Friday, and spending time with them on the range before the tournament, I was very impressed with the way Henley and Langley, at age 21 and 20 respectively, conducted themselves on and off the course.

Henley took the time to provide fans the chance to ask questions in an online "live chat" conducted by Golfweek in the Media Center on Wednesday. As the pair of Georgia Bulldogs hunched over a computer, they took questions from strangers, and a few friends like former Virginia Tech golfer Drew Weaver. On Friday, Henley played one group in front of his Georgia teammate Hudson Swafford as coach Chris Haack ran between the groups trying to catch as much golf as he could. "This is as good as it gets," said the veteran coach, who has several players on Tour.

Once it was established Henley and Langley were the only two amateurs to make the cut, it appeared they were more concerned with making a run for the Top-15 finish that brings an exemption to the 2011 U.S. Open then playing each other. But when Henley parred No. 18 to finish in a tie with Langley, it was a fitting finish for two golfers who played their hearts out all week.
