Days before the Augusta National Women’s Amateur is set to begin, Lucy Li is among two women who have withdrawn from the event due to injury. Alexa Melton, an 18-year-old from Covina, Calif., has also withdrawn.

Li is the No. 7-ranked female amateur in the country, and dominated early-2019 headlines when her amateur status came into question. Li had appeared in an Apple Watch commercial which featured her in various everyday situations, but with a heavy emphasis on golf.

The situation was resolved last month when the USGA granted Li a one-time warning for violating the rules of amateur status. Li had already received her invitation to the ANWA at that point, but the ruling meant that she could play.

Li and fellow ANWA invitee Andrea Lee appeared in a social-media video a week ago after attending a Golden State Warriors shoot-around, then engaging in a putting contest with two-time MVP Steph Curry.

Li has been replaced in the field by Arkansas senior Kaylee Benton, who was a U.S. Women’s Amateur semifinalist and won the clinching point for the Razorbacks in their SEC title run last spring.

Jessica Yuen, a Missouri junior, replaced Melton in the field. Yuen’s entry was announced Thursday.
