Fox’s golf coverage will look a little different in the 2019 season. As the network tackles USGA broadcast duties for the fifth year, it has been reported that Holly Sonders will not return to the golf team.
The news was originally reported by Golfweek.
“I’m incredibly proud to have been a part of Fox Sports’ USGA coverage,” Sonders told
Golfweek. “The entire golf team has become like family and I learned a lot working alongside them. I look forward to continuing my relationship with Fox Sports as I transition into a studio role and am excited about the opportunities ahead of me.”
Sonders, an accomplished player who played collegiately for Michigan State and helped the Spartans to the 2007 Big Ten title, appeared on Golf Channel’s Morning Drive before she transitioned to Fox when the network took over USGA coverage.
Initially, Sonders handled live interviews but was transitioned to a studio role after 2015.
Expect Sonders to stay on with the network even as her golf stint ends. Fox Sports shared the following statement confirming Sonders’ continued role in non-golf coverage: “Holly is a valued member of the Fox Sports family and we’re thrilled to continue working with her."
