ROUND ROCK, TX (February 25, 2018) – Severe weather with lightning and thunderstorms washed out the final round of the 2018 Texas South Four-Ball Championship presented by Impact Precision Golf. The Championship was shortened to 18 Holes and Braden Graham and Luke Antonelli, of San Antonio, won the Championship at Teravista Golf Club via a playoff.

Play during the final round was initially delayed due to a dangerous situation. When the dangerous situation passed, play of the final round began at 8:40 am but due to lingering thunderstorms in the Round Rock area, play was suspended at 9:45 am. Due to the amount of rainfall the course had taken on during the week and during the suspension Sunday morning, play of the final round was canceled due to unplayable course conditions. The Championship was shortened to an 18 Hole competition.

A playoff was utilized to decide the tie and identify the Champions. The overnight leaders headed to the par four 18th tee. On the first playoff hole, all four of the teams made par and headed back to the 18th tee for the second playoff hole. On the second playoff hole, the teams of Graham / Antonelli and Almandoz / Lindsey both made birdie cutting the playoff field in half eliminating Schroeder / Hochhauser and Skorheim / Clarke. The playoff continued back to the 18th tee where both teams again made par extending the playoff. On the fourth playoff hole Graham made birdie and claimed the Championship for his team.

Heading into the playoff, the duo said they knew birdies would be necessary for the team to win and that par wasn’t going get it done. A change on the second playoff hole might have been the difference maker for the team moving forward.

“I needed more off the tee and switched to a driver on the second hole. I hit 3-wood on the first hole and didn’t get it down far enough,” Antonelli explained.

When asked about their play over the weekend, the team said, “We play a brother-in-law style of golf, we pick each other up.”
