(December 24, 2017) - While New England gets bombarded with winter weather at least one golfer has his spring golf trip plans solidified. With Christmas just days away
2017 U.S. Mid-Amateur champion
Matt Parziale received the best present a golfer could wish for, an invitation to the 2018 Masters.
"Opening the the invite yesterday was an amazing feeling," said Parziale. "Even though I knew it was likely to come it was still one of the best moments of my life."
Parziale, from Brockton, MA, earned his way into the Masters by way of his 8&6 win in the title match at Capital City Club.
However being a New Englander and with the northeast seemingly poised for a brutal winter Parziale is ready to do what is necessary to prepare for his April trip to Augusta. "I am going to be playing in five or six events before April," explained Parziale. "(I will) also take a few trips south to try and play as much as possible."
A fireman for the Brockton Fire Department, Parziale was already in the midst of a banner season prior to winning the U.S. Mid-Amateur. First in May Parziale teamed with Herbie Aikens to win the Massachusetts Four-Ball, then just over two months later the banner season continued with a victory at the Massachusetts State Amateur followed by another win two weeks later at the 50th Francis Ouimet Memorial.
