Brackets Set at Georgia Women's Match Play Championship

EATONTON, GA (June 1, 2017) - After 36 holes of stroke play qualifying, the brackets are now set for the Georgia Women's & Senior Women's Match Play Championship. Hannah Mae Deems of Taylorsville posted a 3-under par (71-70) to earn medalist honors and claim the number one seed in the Women's Match Play bracket.

Behind Deems sits Payton Schanen of Johns Creek and Hannah Barger of Elberton who both finished stroke play at 1-under par. Barger claimed the number two seed and Schanen will be the three seed. Reigning Women's Match Play Champion, Louise Yu of Duluth, posted a 3-over par (76-71) and will be the number seven seed.

In the Senior Women's Match Play Championship, Jill Rhodes of Sandy Springs earned medalist honors with a 10-over par (76-78). She will be the number one seed followed by Susan Rheney of Greensboro who posted a 11-over par (80-75).

Laura Coble of Augusta, a Georgia Golf Hall of Famer, posted a 11-over par (75-80) and will be the number three seed. Coble won the Senior Women's Match Play title the last time it was played in 2015 and has won the Georgia Women's Match Play Championship nine times.

The 20th playing of this competition is taking place at Reynolds Lake Oconee - Great Waters, May 31-June 3.

The Women played 36 holes of stroke play qualifying to determine seeds with the low 32 players advancing to match play. The low 16 qualifying scores will comprise the Championship flight and the remaining 16 players will be seeded into a Tournament flight based on qualifying scores.

The Senior Women played 36 holes of stroke play qualifying to determine seeds with the low 32 players advancing to match play. The low 8 qualifying scores will comprise the Championship flight and the remaining 24 players will be seeded into three flights based on qualifying scores.

ABOUT THE Georgia Women's Match Play

Open to female amateur golfers in two separate divisions - Championship and Senior Women's Championship (for those age 50 and older as of the first day of the competition)

Maximum field size of 84 players - low 42 players chosen by handicap index for Women's Match Play Championship qualifying and 42 players for the Senior Women's Match Play Championship qualifying; if a division doesn't fill, more players may be added to the other division for stroke play qualifying and additional match play flights

36 holes of stroke play qualifying followed by match play for the low 32 players; the low 16 qualifying scores will comprise the Championship Flight; the remaining 16 players that make the cut will be seeded into a Tournament Flight based on qualifying scores.
