Steve Hudson repeats at the SOS Masters

INDIAN WELLS, CA (April 13, 2017) - Steve Hudson has gone back-to-back a the Society of Seniors Senior Masters. Hudson (68-67-75--210) opened up a six-stroke lead after two rounds before just being able to hold on during the final round at Indian Wells Golf Resort to win by two shots.

Hudson, the leader from start to finish, entered the Society of Seniors playing well, in late March he teamed with Lawrence Field to win the Tutwiler Four-Ball while also finishing second at the Gasparilla Senior, fourth at the Golfweek Senior Amateur and ninth at the Jones Cup Senior.

Jeff New tried to chase Hudson down with a closing 69 to follow up his second round 68 but the 75 in the first round proved to be much to overcome. New ultimately penciled in a 212 total for the week to finish in a tie for second with Jim Knoll (69-73-70--212).

Larry Daniels (73-70-70--213) was fourth while last weekends Golfweek Senior Amateur winner Jeff Burda (71-70-74--215) was fifth.

Doug Pool (70-69-69--208) went wire-to-wire on his way to winning the Super Senior Division. Pool was tied for the lead at the start of the second round before pulling away to win by 10 shots.

Dan Alpha (71-73-74--218) took the distant second spot and Gary Kirwan (70-74-75--219) was a shot further behind in third.

In the Legends Division the victory went to Frank Abbott (70-72-71--213) by a comfortable five shots. Gaylord Davis (76 72 70 218) was second and Gary Shimmin (74-71-76--221) was third.

ROUND TWO RECAP

Defending Society of Seniors Senior Masters champion Steve Hudson was good on day one and even better on day two. Hudson followed up his first round 68 at Indian Wells Golf Resort with a second 67 and with a 135 tally he has opened up a six-stoke lead.

Cyrus Whitney (74-67--141) and Jeff Burda (71-70--141) are tied for second, Jim Knoll (69-73--142) is in fourth while Jeff New (75-68--143), Jerry (73 70--143) and Larry Daniels (73-70--143) are tied for fifth.

In the Super Senior Division Doug Pool (70-69--139) has freed himself from a three-way tie for the lead and opened up a four-stroke advantage. Gary Hardin (74-69--143) is in second place and in a tie for third it is Dan Alpha (71-73--144) and Gary Kirwan (70-74--144).

Frank Abbott (70 72--142) continues to lead the Grand Master Division by his lead is a slim one shot. Bill Engel (72-71--143) is second with Gary Shimmin (74-71--145) in third.

ROUND ONE RECAP

Defending Society of Seniors Senior Masters champion Steve Hudson opened with a first round 68 to take a one shot lead. When the second round begins on Tuesday at Indian Wells Golf Resort Jim Knoll will be in second place following his 69.

Mac McGee after a 70 is in third with Bob Stephens and Jeff Burda one shot behind after 71's.

In the Super Senior Division Doug Pool, Gary Kirwan and Mack Clapp shot 70's to share the lead while in the Legends Division Frank Abbott is in first place after a 70.
