The weather for the first weekend in March couldn’t have been nicer and some of the top players in the state took advantage of the conditions

ELGIN, SC (March 5, 2017) -- The weather for the first weekend in March couldn’t have been nicer and some of the top players in the state took advantage of the conditions shooting low numbers for the weekend.

The lowest of those numbers came from the overall South Carolina Partners champions, Thomas Todd and Matthew Wiggins.

Playing the Woodcreek layout, the duo from Laurens teamed together to shoot a tournament record 14-under-par 58 for a total score of 121. The tandem made a total of 14 birdies and no bogeys on the day to win by four shots over first round leaders Robert Lutomski and Geno Berchiatti.

In the Second Flight, Josh Branyon and Austin Finley along with Todd White and Kevin King finished tied for first with a total score of 130. Brian Lee and John Asay, Jr took the Third Flight by two shots with a final score of 133.

At Spring Valley, in the Tournament Division, Todd Garrett and Michael Rogers shot the low round of the day with a 9-under-par score of 63 and a two day total of 130 to take the top honors in the Division and their flight. Scott and Rick Robbins took the Second Flight by two shots with a final score of 133. In the third flight, Doug Edwards and Greg Horne finished at seven under par for the tournament and won by two shots.
