Last year Theegala reached the quarterfinals of the U.S. Amateur as the 61st seed and now he will get an extra long look at the site of the 2017 version.

Theegala began his 2017 spring season with a fifth place finish at the Arizona Intercollegiate after ending his year with a tied for third showing at the Patriot All-America in December.

This week Theegala is hoping to become the second of three Genesis Open Collegiate Showcase winners to make the cut. Inaugural winner Will Zalatoris of Wake Forest missed the cut before Charlie Danielson of Illinois made the cut a year ago.
