Laura Coble wins third straight GSGA Senior Women's Championship

PERRY, GA (August 23, 2016) -- Laura Coble of Augusta posted a final-round 2-over-par 74 to win her third consecutive Senior Women's Championship. The nineteenth edition of this competition took place at Houston Lake Country Club, August 22-23.

Coble's 4-over-par 148 (74-74) total was nine strokes better than second place finisher, Susan Rheney of Greensboro (81-76). Mary Riley rounded out the top three with a total of 158.

The victory was Coble's third consecutive Georgia Senior Women's Championship and she joins Brenda Pictor and Claudeen Lindberg as the only competitors to win three titles.

"It is hard to believe that this is the third year that I have been a Senior," said Coble. "Time is going by fast but I have enjoyed it."

There were a number of other flights in competition.

Maria Johnson of Jessup won the Senior 1 Flight with a 156 (76-80).

Janice Murphy of Lizella won the Senior 2 Flight with a 183 (82-81).

Dana Carpenter of Kathleen won the Senior 3 Flight with a 170 (85-85).

Ginette Spinucci of Stone Mountain won the Super Senior 1 Flight with a 159 (82-77).

Clare Clark of Canton won the Super Senior 2 Flight with a 194 (99-95).

ABOUT THE Georgia Senior Women's Amateur

Open to female amateur golfers age 50 and above as of the first day of the competition for the Championship or Senior Division or age 65 and above for the Super Senior Division

Field: 132 player-maximum divided between elective Championship, Senior or Super Senior Divisions; A number of players to be determined with the lowest USGA Handicap Indexes per division will be accepted

Format: 36 holes of flighted stroke play
