Sammy Scmhitz will look to defend his U.S. Mid-Amateur title

(August 22, 2016) -- The best amateurs over the age
of
25 have concluded
18-hole sectional qualifying for the 2016 U.S. Mid-
Amateur, being held this year at Stonewall Links in
Elverson, PA from September 10-15.
Sammy Schmitz will be looking to defend his
title
from a year ago when he defeated Marc Dull 3&2.
Since
winning his first U.S. Mid-Amateur Schmitz, from
Farmington, MN, has played in the Masters and also the
U.S. Amateur.
Schmitz will face one of the strongest fields in
tournament history on September 10 with all qualifiers
and exempt players playing 36-holes to determine the
top 64 for match play.

ABOUT THE U.S. Mid-Amateur Qualifying
The U.S. Mid-Amateur qualifier is open to all
competitors with an index of 2.4 or lower who will
be
at least 25 years of age at the start of the
championship. Format is 18-holes of stroke play with
the number of qualifiers dependent on the size of
