SOUTHERN PINES, NC (March 14, 2016) --The team of Steve Johnson and Mark Harrell captured their first Pine Needles Invitational on Sunday. Teammates Johnson and Harrell posted a three-day total of 20-under to win by four at the Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club.
Johnson (Advance, NC) and Harrell (Hazlehurst, GA) trailed after day one following a 6-under 65. They took control of the tournament on Saturday with a 62 before finishing with a Sunday 67.
First round leaders Chris Cassetta (Kernersville, NC) and Scott Harvey (Greensboro, NC) finished in second at 16-under par. The only other team in double-digits was the third place grouping of Sherrill Britt (West End, NC) and Gary Robinson (Greensboro, NC) at 12-under.
Senior Results
Patrick Brady (Reedsville, NC) and Steve Harwell (Mooresville, NC) won the Senior Division of the Pine Needles Invitational. Brady and Harwell posted a three day total of 14-under par. The duo fired three day scores of 66, 68 and 66.
It was the first win in the Senior Division for Brady and Harwell.
Finishing in a tie for second were the teams of Mark Stephens (Troutman, NC) and Russ Perry (Winston-Salem, NC); Macon Moye (Southern Pines, NC) and Allen Strange (Richmond, VA) at 11-under par.

ABOUT THE Pine Needles Invitational
54 holes four-ball stroke play championship with
open
and senior (both players ages 50+) divisions. The
first
two rounds are best-ball and the final round is
modified
alternate shot. The field will be cut to the low 48
teams split between both divisions following the
second round. The Consulation Round will be played
at Mid Pines.
