What are the Top Four-Ball Golf Tournaments in the USA?

Four Ball competition has always been popular.
The recent economic cycle -- which has forced
many
competitive golfers to "pick and choose"
the events they play in every year -- has only
driven
home the fact that playing a tournament with a
friend is in many ways better than going it
alone.
After all, no matter what you shoot, spending
time
with a friend (or relative) will never be looked at
as
time wasted. And if you can get in the running or
win, you'll have memories to talk about forever.
Starting this year, the USGA has given further
validation to the concept by launching the U.S.
Men's
and Women's Four Ball.
Here is a look at ten of the best. If you're
wondering about Women's Four-Ball events, click here to view a story
about the top three including the Women's International Four
Ball, and the new U.S.
Women's Amateur Four-Ball. Click on the
tournament name for more information.

Champions Cup Invitational
Champions Golf Club
Houston, TX
Apr 30, 2015 - May 03, 2015 |
Champions
Golf
Club, built by Jackie Burke and the late Jimmy
Demaret is one of the
purest golf experiences in Texas, if not the U.S.
The
Champions Cup draws a top national field. (Mid-
Am
and Senior) |

U.S. Amateur Four-Ball
The Olympic Club - Lake Course
San Francisco, CA
May 2, 2015 - May 06, 2015 |
What better place for the
first
USGA Men's Four Ball than San Francisco's
Olympic
Club? Olympic has held five U.S. Opens, two
U.S.
Amateurs, and countless other events. |

The National
Invitational
Whisper Rock Golf Club
Scottsdale, AZ
May 14, 2015 - May 16, 2015 |
The National Invitational at
Whisper Rock is a coveted invitation. The host
club
counts a number of PGA Tour players including
Phil
Mickelson (and his caddie) as members. And
they all
pay monthly dues. |
|
Olympia Fields Four-Ball
Olympia Fields Country Club
Olympia Fields, IL
May 27, 2015 - May 29, 2015 |
In 2015, Olympia Fields
hosts
the U.S. Amateur. Their two courses promise to
be
in
excellent shape for their annual Four Ball -- but
bring
your A game! (Mid-Am, Senior) |
|
Anderson Memorial
Winged Foot Golf Club
Mamaroneck, NY
Jun 04, 2015 - Jun 07, 2015 |
It's hard to argue with the
Anderson being the top four ball event in the
U.S.
year in and year out. The host club, like Olympia
Fields, is steeped in U.S. Open history. |
|
Baltusrol Invitational
Baltusrol Golf Club
Springfield, NJ
Jul 16, 2015 - Jul 17, 2015 |
We're not sure how to get
on
the list for the Baltusrol Invitational, but if an
invitation arrives in your mail box you should
grab a
partner and make your way to New Jersey.

The Devlin
Secession Golf Club
Beaufort, SC
Sep 11, 2015 - Sep 13, 2015 |
When the Devlin moved
from
Texas to South Carolina, it found a permanent
home
at a club that designer Bruce Devlin is a big part
of.
The weekend is so full of fun activities that there
is
no need to leave the club. (Mid-Am, Senior)

Trans-
Mississippi
Four-Ball
The Honors Course
Ooltewah, TN
Sep 15, 2015 - Sep 17, 2015 |
The Trans-Miss G.A.
includes
some of the top clubs in the
U.S. They secure the best venues; the Honors
Course certainly fits the bill.
Trans-Miss events benefit their Turf Scholarship
Fund. We like that! (Mid-Am, Senior) |

John R. Williams Four-Ball
Oak Hill Country Club
Rochester, NY
Sep 17, 2015 - Sep 19, 2015 |
The John R. Williams
celebrates
the Oak Hill member who is responsible for the
beautiful trees that line the fairways of this
historic
club. (Mid-Am/Senior).

Editor's Note: We have left off several
excellent
Winter events because we wanted to focus on
upcoming tournaments. Click the following link

The
Majors of Amateur Golf."
And we wouldn't be doing ourselves justice
if we
didn't mention The Two
Man
Links Championship at Bandon Dunes,
being
played April 30 - May 4, 2015. We love bringing
a
group to Bandon every year, and we run this
event
at a level that is commensurate with any of the
top
invitational Four-Ball events or Member-Guests
you
might have played in. Scratch, Senior Scratch,
and
Net Divisions all have openings as of early
February;
we can continue accepting registrations until
March
1st. Call us at 760-929-9297 or check out the
tournament listing here for more
