South Carolina commit Caleb Proveaux leads Jones Cup Junior
SEA ISLAND, Ga. (Dec. 19, 2014) — Caleb Proveaux of Lexington, S.C., who has committed to play collegiately for the University of South Carolina, posted a five-under 65 on Friday in the opening round of the Jones Cup Junior Invitational to lead the 54-hole event by a stroke.
Sitting one shot back of Proveaux are Will Chandler of Atlanta, Ga. and Joshua Martin of Pinehurst, N.C. Two other players, Robin Wang of Lake Mary, Fla. and S.M. Lee of Buford, Ga., are tied for fourth place at two-under 68.
Proveaux has an older brother, Cody, who plays for South Carolina's rival school Clemson.
The Jones Cup Junior Invitational follows in the footsteps of the Jones Cup Invitational, an annual amateur event that attracts the best players in the nation. The tournament features the nation’s top male junior golfers ages 15-18. The winner of the 54-hole stroke play competition will receive an exemption to participate in the heralded Jones Cup Invitational.
The tournament is being played at the 7,005 yard, par-70 Seaside Course at Sea Island Golf Club.

The Jones Cup Junior Invitational follows in the
footsteps of the Jones Cup Invitational. The
tournament features the nation’s top male junior
golfers ages 15-18. The winner of the 54-hole stroke
play competition receives an exemption to
participate
in the heralded Jones Cup Invitational, which
typically
features a diverse international field. Invitations are
typically mailed in September and are based on Polo
Golf Rankings, Junior Golf Scoreboard Rankings and
the Golfweek/Sagarin Junior Rankings.
