NC Women's Senior: Moore wins 3rd title
Charlotte, NC – Final Results of the 11th North Carolina Women’s Senior Amateur Championship hosted by Cedarwood Country Club on Wednesday, April 16, 2014. Par 37-36—73 5648 yards.

Patty Moore of Charlotte, NC fires an impressive round of 2-over par 75 in extremely cold and windy conditions to capture her third North Carolina Women’s Senior Amateur title and her 17th CGA championship win. Moore carded only two birdies on the day. One of those birdies came on the par 5 6th hole after her second shot skipped across the pond and landed just short of the green. Moore was able to convert the up-and-down for a 4. “After I hit that shot I thought, oh boy, that is either going to go in the water or it has a good chance to skip over. Luckily for me, it skipped over. That could have been a big three shot swing between myself and Pat (Brogden).”

First round leader Kim Briele of New Bern, NC finished in 3rd place while defending champion Peg Brady of Stanley, NC finished in 6th place.

Moore also currently reigns as the Carolinas Women’s Senior Amateur champion and holds the most wins for a female in CGA history. “I’m happy for this win. It’s been a long time since I’ve won this event and I hope this is a sign for a good year,” Moore said.

In the tournament division Laura Gilchrist of Charlotte, NC shot a 81-88 to win by four shots over Chris Jones of Charlotte, NC. Peggy Lea of Charlotte, NC captured the Super Senior prize.
