NOVATO, Calif. -- Cool winds of up to 30 mph greeted the players at the final round of the AGC Wine Country Cup hosted by Bay Club Stonetree.

Daniel Dal Poggetto entered the final round with a four-shot lead over Brandon Lee and Kirabo Reed. Dal Poggetto would need all of those strokes as his final round 79 edged Lee by one shot.

Poggetto began the round with a very solid even-par 35 but struggled on the difficult back nine as the winds really started gusting. Lee climbed back into contention and had an eight-foot par putt on the last hole to tie Poggetto.

The putt just slipped by and Lee finished at 76 giving Dal Poggetto a par-putt for the win. Struggling with three-putting all week, Dal Poggetto trusted his stroke and knocked it.

“Hats off to Brandon for playing a great round," the Petaluma native said, acknowledging how difficult the course was playing. "I’m really fortunate to have pulled it out today and I’m happy to be playing good golf again".

Kirabo Reed finished with a second consecutive 78 for solo third. Look out for this high school senior from Brentwood who will be playing at D1 Alabama State in the fall.

Senior/ Net

In arguably the best round of the tournament, Sherman Haggerty fired a final-round 75 to close out the senior division by six shots. The native of El Dorado Hills shot a two-day total of 156 which would have tied third in the championship division. Barry Soicher also played well with a final round 77 to take second place.

Surprisingly, the winner of the Net division did not come from anyone in the final group. Instead Doug Nickels fired a final round 68 to come from five shots behind for the win. Colin Parker also made a big move with a final round 67 but unfortunately lost to Nickels in a back-nine scorecard playoff.

The amateurgolf.com tour continues March 5-6 with the Monterey Four-ball hosted by Pacific Grove Golf Links.
