If you had plans to play golf this last weekend on the east coast, chances were you’d be wearing a rain suit – if they even allowed you out on the course. Constant rain flooded out several courses and cancellations.
The Senior Azalea was cut short by a couple of days with Kirk Geiling of Ohio and Walter Todd of South Carolina tied at 2-under after the first day. Wind, rain and lightning became the toughest opponents, so Geiling and Todd had a one-hole playoff with Geiling winning and claiming the rain-shortened championship.
Seventeen inches of rain fell at beautiful Yeamans Hall in Charleston, South Carolina, causing the cancellation of Yeamans Hall Invitational.
The South Carolina Super Senior Championship was rescheduled for October 20th and 21st at the Florence Country Club.
The Willow Oaks Four-Ball Fall Invitational in Richmond, VA was rescheduled to November 13th and 14h.
In North Carolina, the Carolina Golf Association’s Jimmy Anderson Junior Girls Invitational has been rescheduled for November 21st and 22nd at Jacksonville Country Club.
The 27th Senior Challenge Matches scheduled for Oct. 7 at Cripple Creek Golf & Country Club in Dagsboro, Del., was also cancelled because of damage from the hurricane.
