Tebo, Jasper share opening-round lead at High Plains Amateur

GARDEN CITY, Kan. — A pair of two-under par 69s sit atop the High Plains Amateur leaderboard after the first round. Skyler Tebo of Ellis, Kan. and Tim Jasper of Winfield, Kan. are ahead by a stroke heading to the final round.
Tebo, Garden City Community College golfer, made four straight birdies on the front nine before going two over on the back. Jasper, an assistant coach at Southwestern College, made his run on the inward nine, birdieing four of his last seven holes.
Sitting alone in third place is Thailand native Kantapong Chaisiriwichian, while two back after even-par 71s are a pair of Grants — Grant Herrenbruck and Grant Vollertsen.
The cut fell at seven-over par 78, with 33 players advancing to Sunday. Ten players are within four shots of the lead at the Golf Club at Southwind in Garden City.
