DiSanto, Joseph duo wins Canterbury Cup by three
CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Henry Picard Canterbury Cup wrapped up Monday at Canterbury Golf Club where champions from the past secured another victory.
The winners from the 2011 event, Fred DiSanto and Larry Joseph, won by three shots with a combined final-round total of 154 to hold off Jason Coolik and Mike Cromer by three. The pair best-balled 69 and 71 in the opening two rounds, followed by a final-day aggregate total of 154.
Coolik and Cromer also totaled 154 on Monday, but entered the final day three back of DiSanto and Joseph after posting best-ball rounds of 72 and 71.
Andy Hulett and Michael McLoone were in second place heading to Monday but fell back into sixth after an aggregate total of 164 in the third round.
In the Senior Division, John Spengler and Mark Nickerson used a final-round aggregate total of 150, the lowest total of the day in any division, to cruise to their own three-shot victory. They entered the day tied with Tom Slater and Bob Fairchild, though the eventual second-place finishers combined for 153 on Monday.

The Picard Cup is a Major two-
man tournament
that draws a field of accomplished players from all
over the country. 54 holes over two days.
Format:
Round One – Better Ball of Partners
Round Two – Alternate Shot
Round Three – Better Ball of Partners
The
tournament will have two divisions: Mid-Amateur
(ages
25-54) and
Senior (ages 55+). The difference in partner
handicaps
cannot exceed 4 for
Mid-Ams, and 6 for Seniors.
The tournament honors Henry Picard, the Head Golf
Professional at
Canterbury for 25 years. Aside from his many
championship
victories he was a Masters Tournament and PGA
Champion. His
Masters Jacket along with other memorabilia is
presented in the Picard Lounge at Canterbury.
Canterbury is an older traditional golf course that
has hosted several professional major
championships, including two U.S. Opens and a PGA
Championship as well as two U.S. Amateur
championships.
