WHITE SULFER SPRINGS (May 29, 2015) -- Sam O'Dell finished what he started, going wire-to-wire in winning the 2015 West Virginia Amateur Championship, his second in three years. A perennial top-10 finisher in the event -- held at the beautiful Greenbrier Resort. -- O'Dell also won the tournament in 2013.

After firing an opening-round 66 on the Greenbrier course, he shot rounds of 70, 77 and finished with a 70 on the Old White TPC course to take home the trophy. With the victory he earns an exemption to play with the pros in July's Greenbrier Classic.

O'Dell, a dentist from Hurricane, entered the final round with a five-shot lead, and after a birdie on the first hole his lead grew to six. Steady play from Charleston's Christian Casingal and a couple of double bogeys from O'Dell on 4 and 7 tightened the gap to only 2 strokes.

A birdie on the 9th and a hot finish with birdies on 15, 16 and 17 left no doubt that O'Dell would walk away with the victory.

Casingal shot a final round 70 to finish in second, five strokes behind the leader. Thadd Obecney II of Wheeling finished in third place at +5 and a 289 total for four rounds.
