JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Kevin Wolf knocked in a birdie on the 18th hole at Timuquana Country Club to shoot 72 on Sunday and win the Timuquana Cup by a stroke over second-round leader Billy Mitchell.

The Mid-Amateur only tournament, which also has senior and super-senior flights, has been hosted at Timuquana Country Club since 2012.

Wolf trailed Mitchell, of Roswell, Ga., by three entering the third and final round, but the two got off to considerably different starts. The Lodi, Calif. resident Wolf was three-under through his first six holes while Mitchell was three-over after just two. Mitchell fought back nicely with a birdie at four, an eagle at six, and another birdie at seven. But starting with a double bogey on nine, Mitchell went five over his final 10 holes with Wolf sealing the one-stroke victory with a birdie on 18.

Bill Sharpe took third place at one-over 217 while Rusty Strawn and Ben Hayes tied for fourth place at 218.

In the Senior Division, 2013 U.S. Senior Amateur winner Doug Hanzel posted 67 on Sunday to pull away from fellow Savannah, Ga. native Jack Hall and win by five. Hall, the 2015 Jones Cup Senior winner, was the only player other than Hanzel under-par after 54 holes, finishing the tournament in second place by six shots.

David Anthony took solo third place at even-par 216 while Randy Elliot and Bob Mathers tied for fourth at 218.

The Super Senior title went to Steve Melnyk at one-under 215, despite a final-round 75. His opening rounds of 70s had him out to a six shot lead after Saturday, giving Melnyk a sizable cushion. Randy Briggs was the second-place finisher while Greg Scurlock and Greg Reynolds tied for third place at 226.
