Top seed and defending champion Gary Vanier dispatched of No. 32 seed Michael Wiechers and will move on to the Round of 16 at the 2014 San Francisco City Senior Championship
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (Feb. 22, 2014) -- Top seed and defending champion Gary Vanier dispatched of No. 32 seed Michael Wiechers and will move on to the Round of 16 at the 2014 San Francisco City Senior Championship. At Presidio Golf Course, Vanier led the group of qualifiers that lived to play another day -- and weekend -- in the senior flight. No. 12 seed Mark Miller, the 2011 champion, also advanced. He beat No. 21 Somboon Kitapan. Herb Jensen, who took the top qualifying position last weekend and the No. 2 seed in the match play field, was upset by Ray Kong. Kong survived a 9-for-2 playoff before play began on Saturday. Round of 16 and quarterfinal matches in both the senior and super senior divisions will be played next weekend, March 1-2.
